All-On-4® New Teeth in One DayDr. Rapoport and Dr. Schuler can give you implant-supported full-arch replacement teeth that are stably fixed-in, provide near full chewing power, look totally natural and won’t slip or irritate your gums. The procedure is known as “All-on-4®,” as only four implants are needed to support an entire arch of fixed-in new teeth.

All-on-4 is a highly advanced procedure which allows patients with even severe bone loss in their jaw to receive fixed-in new teeth without the need for bone grafting. It is also designed so you can have any necessary extractions done and receive your implants and new replacement teeth all on the same day!

Development of the All-on-4 procedure

The All-on-4 treatment protocol was developed in the 1990s by Nobel Biocare, a world leader in innovative dental implant solutions, in conjunction with Portuguese dentist Dr. Paolo Malo. Nobel and Dr. Malo were dedicated to finding a system that could effectively provide implant-supported, full-arch replacement teeth to patients who had lost a lot of bone in their jaw and to be able to do so without having to rely on bone grafting.

They developed a special tapered implant that had top-to-bottom threads that would optimally integrate with the jawbone. They then found that placing the rear implants at a slanted angle would take the best advantage of the available bone in the jaw and eliminate the need for bone grafting in most patients.

Dr. Rapoport will thoroughly explain every step of your procedure so that you are well prepared for your treatment.

Nobel and Dr. Malo also found that four implants strategically placed in the densest areas of the jawbone gave the strongest support. Another major breakthrough came when they applied the mechanics of bridge construction to the creation of the new teeth that go on top of the implants.

The All-on-4 procedure uses a single set of teeth solidly fused together so that the forces generated by biting and chewing can be evenly distributed. This is why patients receiving All-on-4 treatment can immediately use their new teeth after the procedure.

Candidates for All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4 is not just for people who have broken-down teeth that need to be extracted and replaced. People who have already lost all their teeth and are already wearing dentures can benefit equally from the procedure.

An Easy, One-Day Procedure

We use the latest in dental imaging technology for accurate diagnosis and detailed treatment planning.

In traditional implant treatment, patients who need bone grafting have to wait three months without functional teeth for bone to regrow. The implants are then placed and they have to wait several more months for the implants to heal before they can have usable new teeth. This makes the tooth replacement procedure extremely long and very expensive.

Conventional methods are also a lot more taxing on the patient. They require several sessions, which means more time in the surgical chair and multiple recovery periods. With All-on-4, the patient has only one surgery visit which includes the placement of all implants and the receipt of new, functional teeth.

Special Implants for Patients with Severe Bone Loss

Dr. Rapoport and Dr. Schuler can place special, extra-long implants for patients who have experienced severe bone loss in their upper jaw. Known as zygomatic implants, these are four to five times the length of conventional implants and are placed through the jawbone into the cheekbone.

This is a very precise surgical procedure that only highly trained and experienced implant surgeons such as Dr. Rapoport and Dr. Schuler can perform. Using zygomatic implants, they are able to provide All-on-4 treatment to a wider range of patients than most offices and implant centers.

High-Quality New Teeth

Your new teeth are made out of high-quality, titanium-reinforced acrylic. Because of the titanium reinforcement, the teeth can be made thinner and more refined than usual, which gives a more natural look and feel.
